Helen's Bio:

Inspired by her home state of Florida, Helen Moody has been intrigued by old architecture, unique gardens, remote beaches and waterways. This interest has allowed her to bring a unique perspective to her art. As her artistic journey has evolved over the years, her style has also been influenced by travels throughout North America and Europe. Her love for unique subject matter has inspired her to express and share her experiences.

Moody possess an exceptionally keen eye for still life composition and has an outstanding feel for color, harmony of tone and flawless simplicity. This is reflected in her use of various forms of light to bring out surface textures in the most ordinary objects.

Nature and her love for gardening continue to spark Moody’s passion to paint.  Her home and gardens on the intracoastal waterway in Ponte Vedra are often the focus of her paintings and attest to her talent for design and composition.

Her techniques have been shaped by studies with mentors and instructors notably: Leonard Wren, Connie Winters, Robert Johnson, Alice Williams, Morgan Samuel Price, Chang Quiang, Jim Draper and most recently Jean Chambers.

Moody looks forward to her participation in upcoming community projects that include the Ponte Vedra Recorder First Coast Artist Exhibition in September of 2019, Archway Gallery Exhibition for First Coast Artists in October of 2019, an exhibition in the Riverside Avondale Preservation Society Art House scheduled for the spring of 2020 and a continued presence in Travel Lenders Travel Agency Exhibition.

Artist's Statement:

“As an artist I am fascinated with rich color and the infusion of light, which has a distinct impact on my work. My goal is to create visually inspiring subjects using light and its varied patterns. As I continue my artistic journey, my style continues to evolve into what I describe at this time as relaxed post impressionistic.”
