Leah's Biography:

I have been involved in art since I was seven years old.
I was 1 of only 5 people enrolled in the Special Art Training Group of my grade school. I competed in the Sichuan province Youth Art Exhibition and won the award in my first art show.  Although I have not regarded painting as my main business for a long time, I have never stopped painting since my childhood.
 
While pursuing other careers, I studied art at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in China, the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University, and Fontbonne University in the United States. I also took one-on-one lessons from well-known painters.

In 2015, I left China to relocate to the United States and began to participate in exhibitions.

I am a member of The Portrait Society of America Association and the American Watercolor Society.

I just moved in Sarasota in 2018.  In the coming years, I hope to get involved in local Florida art institutions, to get to know more artists, participate in more art activities.

Artist Statement:

For me, painting is not just about visual representation but rather is fundamentally a way of communicating and inspiring thoughts and ideas. My art is similar to a living creature, always growing, always evolving to reflect developments in my own state of inner consciousness.
