Honey's Bio:

HONEY COSTA began creating her watercolors in the hills of Pennsylvania while attending classes at the Baum School of Art over thirty years ago.  Honey’s subject matter of old barns and maple trees soon turned to the vibrant palette of the Caribbean.  Living aboard a 37 foot sailboat with her husband and sailing the picturesque islands of the West Indies and South America opened a whole new world of color and subject matter.  Five years of sailing the Windward Islands, Honey then came ashore in Cape Coral, Florida.  Living on the water has enabled her to capture the multifaceted beauty of the island people and their lifestyle and our vistas.
Honey continues to capture these subjects here in the paradise of Southwest Florida and has sailed to Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Cuba, the Bahama Islands; including a transatlantic sail on a four-masted clipper ship.  Painting visits to the picturesque islands of Grenada and Martinique, Brazil, Argentina and Costa Rica have also resulted in vibrant watercolors.  Honey Costa continues to win awards in area art shows and is an active member of the Cape Coral Art League, Lee Co. Alliance of the Arts, Florida Watercolor Society, Art League of Ft. Myers Beach and the National League of American Pen Women.
Her art can always be viewed at home by private appointment and current works are featured at the Arts for ACT Gallery, Ft. Myers, Island Visions Gallery, Pine Island,  Artists’ Dreams Gallery, Cape Coral Pkwy, Cape Art and Frame, 46th Lane, CC., and Art and Hair Studio, Cape Coral.

Artist Statement:

My spirited watercolors and collages are a reflection of my personal interests in life.  I live in a world of color through the inspirational ambiance and beauty of the tropical vistas and people of the Caribbean and Florida.  My years of travel and living aboard a sailboat have enhanced my awareness of nature.  This results in the  clear, bright colors of my palette.  It is my joy to capture these colors of our tropical paradise and create pleasure for my viewers. Art is my raison d’etre.
