FLAG Positions:

Artist Bio:

Fine Art Painter and Teacher for 50 years, I have been studying art since the age of 12. As a teacher my life-long goal and mission is to help and allow others to create art for simply the joy of it. As an artist my goal is to create without fear of judgement. Even for myself, I strive to create from a very raw and vulnerable place. In 2005 I made a conscious decision to focus on painting Florida landscapes. Growing up as a little girl in Florida, I was always exposed to natural Florida. A good painting makes others more aware of how special it is just to be alive.

Artist Statement:

Our world is so amazing! Description with words falls short. I hope to bridge the gap with my work; filling the silence between our thoughts with vibrant images, where our words slip through the cracks. I try to explain what our tongues cannot express; but, our hearts and emotions interpret and recognize.

Bright color, contrasting light, and energetic brush stokes express how I see the world that inspires me. My landscapes accentuate the beauty of South Florida and the American tropics I call home.

Although I prefer Windsor Newton Oil paints, I am always trying new media and continuing to experiment in order to create interesting effects, textures, and sensations within my developing work. I prefer Centurion Linen and canvas with Windsor Newton sables or mostly flat Galleria brushes. All Giclees reproductions are on Exhibition Canvas with 50 year plus lightfast inks utilizing the best quality products and methods available.

My goal is to reveal the beauty in simplicity while exploring the complexities of my subject matter. Each portrait, still life, or landscape is another way to communicate, find a new experience, and open a door to explore the beauty of our world.

With imagination, oil paints, and a blank canvas, I try to capture a sliver of God’s
creation with art.
