Artist Statement:

My landscape and abstract paintings, inspired by the sites, sounds, and diversity of cultures in over 80 countries I’ve visited, are a reflection of the world I see around me. My style, ranging from impressionistic to expressionistic to abstract, stems from the deep emotions I have as a painter. I strive to convey a sense of place and mood to the viewer.

During the past couple of years, throughout the pandemic and while suspending my travel adventures, I have continued to find joy in expressing memories of my many travel experiences in my art.

My painting style in both oil and acrylic on canvas, linen, or cradled panel, also sometimes combines mixed media and collage. All are translations through my use of color, movement, and mark making to bring my paintings to life!

I’m presently also working on a series, ‘Behind Closed Doors’, that incorporates, through painting, mixed media and assemblage, photographs of a variety of unusual doors that I have seen in different countries. Intrigued by the uniqueness of each door, my compilation of paintings and assemblages on this theme is inspired by curiosity as to who might be living behind these closed doors.
