Artists Bio:
Donne graduated with honors from Penn State University with a degree in Art, moved to Florida in 1967 and has been a full-time studio artist ever since.
She retired from Crealde School of Art after twenty years where she taught classes in watercolor and acrylic. Donne maintains a studio at McRae Art Studio in Orlando. She has conducted workshops at the Harris House Annex of the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Tennessee, Vero Beach Center for the Arts, Rollins College, and the Brevard Museum of Art and Science.
In 2002 she received a State of Florida Individual Artist’s Fellowship and in 2006 an Individual Artist Enhancement Grant. In 2004, 2007 and 2010 she received Professional Development Grants from United Arts of Central Florida.
Collections include the Huntsville Museum of Art, Springfield Art Museum, Gulf Coast Center for the Arts, Vero Beach Center for the Arts, Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences, Rollins College, State of Florida Capital Collection, Holmes Medical Center, Maitland Museum, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, and the public collections of Atlanta, Orlando, and Melbourne.
Donne is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Watercolor USA Honor Society, the Florida and Southern Watercolor Societies.
Artist Statement:
I paint abstracted reality.
Acrylics are my major media but I also work with oil pastels and mixed media.
Lately I have been exploring landscapes with textured surfaces such as spackling, joint compound, hydrocal and gesso.
I paint by discovery as I don’t have a fixed idea of the end result when I begin.
Memory is my muse.
