Lorrie’s Bio:

Lorrie Williamson is from El Dorado, Arkansas. She graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. She taught Art at Union Elementary School in Gallatin, Tennesee, and began exhibiting her paintings when she moved with her family to the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.  She moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in the mid 1980’s and continued her art through the local artist Guild.

Lorrie was one of the original artists who built studios in the Grocery Warehouse in 1993. When the site was “condemned,” she joined other artists at Tarpon River Art Center.  She taught Children’s classes in her studio and at the Broward Art Guild, and served as a staff instructor at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. She moved her studio to its present location in Country Estates, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in 2006 and resides in Jupiter, Florida.

Lorrie’s paintings and sculpture have won numerous awards both at the state and local level. She is honored to have had her painting, “Twin Towers” judged Best of Show in the 2004, Florida Artists Group Annual Exhibit.  Two of her paintings were purchased for the set of the movie, Blood and Wine, starring Jack Nicholson.  Lorrie was the recipient of the “Encore Star Award” given by the Broward Country Cultural Arts Association for service to the community in the arts.

Lorrie is currently an artist member of the Palm Beach Cultural Council, the Florida Artists Group, Inc., the Lighthouse Art Center, Tequesta, Florida, and the Boca Raton Museum of Art with Signature Membership in The Artist Guild.   She is a member of the Florida Artist Registry online, and was included in the 2011, 7th Annual Members Exhibit at the Gallery on Avalon Island, Orlando, Florida.

Lorrie is a charter Premier Member of the AbsoluteArts web presence.  Her paintings are available for viewing or purchase at http://www.absolutearts.com/lorriew.

Artist Statement:

Lorrie is a self-taught artist, having received her training from some of the best books, videos, workshops, and classes in the field.  Her talent leads her into representational painting with oils and acrylics, but her emotions often lead to the abstract and experimental art in which she also excels.
