#1 Feb. 1, Tues., 9am, “FLAG Annual Virtual Members Exhibit” – video launch only. Sign up and we will alert you via email when it launches. #2 Feb. 1, Tues., 10am, “Non-Traditional Exhibit Options”. Presenter – Jane Baldridge. Many of us decided we wanted to be artists a long time ago. But how many thought about what that means to them individually? What are your goals? Have you done the math? Come with me on a path to see what options for exhibitions there are, pros and cons, what are realistic expectations of outcomes and how to make and attain your goals. #3 Feb. 3, Thurs., 4pm, “By A Thread: Textile Trends in Contemporary Art and “FLAG Awards Presentation”. Presenter – Holly Koons. Holly Koons is director of the Mary M. Torggler Fine Arts Center at Christopher Newport University in Newport New, VA. She has been the Director of other major art venues and is judge of the 2022 FLAG annual exhibit. Ms. Koons will bring more than 20 years of director and curation to this presentation. The presentation will include a Q & A session. #4   Feb. 7, Mon., 11am “Easy DPI and Pixels”. Presenter – Rosa Valladares. We will touch on the three most common programs and techniques to size/resize your photographs including resolution changes! Easy to follow steps. Choose which program you want to work with or learn more about the one that you already have in your computer. Bring your questions – Rosa is looking forward to them! #5  Feb. 7, Mon., 2pm “Put Yourself Out There – Writing About Your Art”. Presenter – Rosa Valladares. Like it or not, writing is part of introducing yourself to the art world. I will provide some simple tips to help you with what to say. We will start with ideas like prompting yourself with questions and determining what information you want to give. #6   Feb. 8, Tues., 10am “Beyond the Brush – Finding my Tribe as a Digital Artist”. Presenter – Diana de Avila. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wake up with a superpower? Meet Diana de Avila whose talent magically appeared after a relapse of multiple sclerosis and a traumatic brain injury. She found her artistic voice using fractal geometry, artificial intelligence, and a computer. Diana takes a deep dive into crypto art and NFT’s. Bring your questions – Diana looking forward to them. #7   Feb. 9, Wed., 11am “Area II Artists Studios – Finding Your Niche” – video launch only. Sign up and we will alert you via email when it launches! Presenters – Jane Lawton Baldridge, Suzanne Barton, Minakshi De, Laurie Snow Hein, Jane McIntyre, Lynn Morgan, Nadine Saitlin, Eileen Shaloum, and Lorrie Williamson. How do artists differentiate themselves from all the other artists? Each of us strives to find our “voice.”  Nine artists of FLAG Area II share their amazing experiences of finding their own niche in the dynamic art world. You created your “Masterpiece “and it has been accepted in a show, but the venue is across the country! Shipping your artwork can be nerve wracking and expensive. We will share what to do, what not to do, tips on saving money and assuring your art arrives on time and is returned to you safely. Bring your questions – these ladies are ready for you! #9   Feb. 11, Fri., 2pm “Lights, Camera – Video Your Art”. Panelist – Mark Mitchell, Weldon Ryan, and Robert Shirk with moderator Lynn Morgan. Video is a crucial tool to promote your art. Recent studies show that video generates on average 38% more impressions than static images. Join this panel as they discuss their unique video styles and how they use video. #10   Feb. 12, Sat., 2pm, “Art Inspires a Healthy Life”. Panelists – Linda Hawkins, Pamela Miles, and Abby Murphy with moderator Vicky Lennon From sunrise to sunset, art enriches our live if we let it. With a little guidance, creativity can be discovered in people of all ages. Windows to the mind are unlocked when creating. You will hear about the health benefits of art making. Linda Hawkins is an arts health practitioner, Pamela Miles teaches art to Dyslexic children, and Abby Howard teaches plein-air painting to ages teen to senior. #11   Feb. 13, Sun., 2pm, “Want to Do Commission Work?” Presenter – Margaret Juul. This is a video launch only (link will be sent to your email). Margaret’s successful career proves her step-by-step process works. She will discuss how to scout out commission work and provide a specific process to make your designer or client happy. Margaret will review (1) Portfolio – why would someone want to commission your work? (2) Prospects- who needs commission work? #12   Feb. 14, Mon., 10am, “Hear Yes – Gallery Representation”. Panelists – Rolando Chang Barrero, Angie Barry, Amanda Cooper, and Renee Lewis. Do not be the best collector of your own artwork. Being represented by one or more galleries can be a daunting challenge, but can also bring rewards, recognition, sales, and a mutually beneficial relationship. #13  Feb. 16, Wed., 4pm – “Are You Residency Ready?”. Presenter – Pat Cummins. Travel with Pat as she paints in National Parks and other national and international residencies. If you have a passion for travel and making art along the way, this presentation will give insight as to how Pat received 15 National Park Residencies, and others too! You gain knowledge about the residency application process. #14   Feb. 18, Fri., 2pm – “Landscape Demo-Plein Air”. Presenter – Paul Ladnier. This in-studio demonstration will answer questions about plein air painting processes to help artists struggling with developing a painting outdoors in changing conditions. Paul will demonstrate a natural way of painting and exploring pathways for completing paintings more quickly including mixing dynamic colors in nature, the power of grays, composition and design, creating atmosphere, as well as a variety of painting techniques. #15   Feb. 21, Mon., 10am – “The Art of Being an Artist”. Presenter – Laurie Snow Hein. At age 40, Laurie Snow Hein went from being a mom of six with a newborn to supporting her family. Creating income with art seemed like the best choice. Laurie succeeded in creating a successful art career and will share many of the decisions made along the way. From how to display art, show in art festivals, create affordable websites, sell art on the internet, approach (or not) galleries, to how to meet your income goals, Laurie will tell you how she did it and try to answer your questions. #16   Feb. 21, Mon., 2pm – “Do You Really Need a Gallery?”. Panelists – Therese Ferguson, Nadine Saitlin, and Laurie Snow Hein. No, according to these three successful artists. Not every gallery is a good fit and finding the right one may not be that easy. We will discuss how artists can succeed using online devices, virtual galleries, and digital shops.
